Fall is settling in around here — the leaves are starting to turn, the mornings have that crisp edge to them, and there's a lot happening around town over the next few weeks. Here's what's on my radar for you.

Airport gets easier to navigate.
Asheville Regional Airport opened a new Ride App and Taxi Pick-up area on September 1, located just south of the rental car center and baggage claim — about a six-minute walk from the terminal. If you're picking up family flying in for the holidays, worth knowing ahead of time.
Helene recovery funding continues.
The Good Neighbor Authority recently secured nearly $65 million for Hurricane Helene recovery work in Western North Carolina's forests — part of the ongoing rebuilding effort still touching much of our region.

Peaking Up the Parkway: Fall Leaf Viewing — Mondays, ongoing. A guided look at the season's best foliage spots along the Parkway.
Treks Hiking Club for Older Adults — Tuesday, October 21. A guided hike designed specifically for older adults exploring the WNC outdoors.

Opening Reception: Coming Together through Agriculture & Mutual Aid in WNC — Tuesday, September 22, 6–7:30 PM, Pack Memorial Library. A photography exhibit opening with refreshments.
Book Talk with Ann Howell — Saturday, September 26, 3–4:30 PM, Leicester Library. The author discusses her Civil War-era novel, Never Let Me Go.
The Farm at Black Mountain College — Thursday, October 1, 10–11 AM, Pack Memorial Library. A talk on the experimental college's agricultural history.
Around town
Barktoberfest — Saturday, October 4. A dog-friendly community celebration, great if you're bringing grandkids (and their dog).
